The Chinese National College Entrance Examination - better known as Gaokao - is said to be of such importance it will determine the rest of a student's life. Follow four students as they enter their final year of senior high at an Experimental School in Shenzhen and prepare to take the Gaokao.

It is the first day of school and Chen Wei (Aiden Kim), João Ferriera (Danny Bianchi), Li Hao (Diego Anderson) and Yang Kairui (Alex Jaeger) arrive to school in Shenzhen from Shenyang, Macau, Jinghong and Tashkurgan respectively. Each has, unfortunately, forgotten something at home. Their new Headteacher is having none of it, vowing to start the year off right.

Chen Wei (Aiden Kim) and Li Hao (Diego Anderson) get into the classic dormroom argument between northerners and southerners: window open or closed? Perhaps Yang Kairui (Alex Jaeger), someone from neither north or south, can 'settle' the issue?
Contraband 2026.02.20
Chen Wei (Aiden Kim) and João Ferriera (Danny Bianchi) order food via delivery app and attempt to have it fished over the school wall. While João escapes with the first bag, Chen Wei is caught and pays the price.

Yang Kairu (Alex Jaeger) and Chen Wei (Aiden Kim) are in trouble when an argument over a knife ends with the knife falling out a window and nearly hitting a foreign teacher.

Chen Wei (Aiden Kim), João Ferriera (Danny Bianchi), Li Hao (Diego Anderson) and Yang Kairu (Alex Jaeger) are summoned to the foreign teacher's office, after they turned in identical homework. An 'identical' punishment for each, American school style with a paddle, awaits them.
Roving 2026.03.20
A Prefect on roving duty encounters Chen Wei (Aiden Kim), João Ferriera (Danny Bianchi), Li Hao (Diego Anderson) and Yang Kairu (Alex Jaeger) in the hallway, having been thrown out of class for not having done homework. Per the rules anyone outside of class without a valid reason is caned.
